   The Acoustic Club

The Acoustic Club The Acoustic Club was formed in March 2001.
With the aim of bringing down to the far south west of Cornwall the very best practioners of 'Americana' Music.
Founding members Roy Ray, David Wilkinson & Richard Plank, all active musicians, themselves, took on the role of concert promoters to provide a much needed service. For the first time it was possible to see 'Live In Concert' some of the best known and greatest players from the States. To attend workshops and to have the chance to actually meet and pick with players only known through their recordings & videos.
The Acoustic Club has also promoted concerts by the very best in British Bluegrass & Old Time Bands.
Based in St.Ives, and using a selection of venues in that delightful harbour town, The Acoustic Club continues to grow, developing ever stronger links with the local community, and has become a well known 'stop-over' point for the very best touring musicians.
Jeff Burke & Vida Wakeman 2006

Jeff Burke & Vida Wakeman visited us during their tour of the UK in October.
Their concert of real, acoustic Americana was packed full of very fine picking & singing.
Providing some of the most entertaining music we've heard in St.Ives for a very long time. We certainly hope to see this great duo down here again before too long.

Steve Kaufman Jack Lawrence

A regular visitor to St.Ives, Steve Kaufman, is renowned as a world class guitarist & performer. Tone, technique & stunning creativity & repertoire. This man does it all. And throws in the best workshops around. Don't miss him when he's here. If you're in the States around June make sure to get to his award winning Summer Kamp. All instruments & all levels. It's the best.

Our thanks go to Jack Lawrence. He was the catalyst for the creation of The Acoustic Club. The very first guest invited to play in St.Ives. His great playing & singing won him many new fans. One of the top flat pickers around, Jack has inspired some of todays best known guitarists,
Bryan Sutton included. Jack & his wife Katie are always welcome down here in West Penwith.
We hope they will visit us again.

Beppe Gambetta 2002
& Dan Crary

Regular visitors to Cornwall; Tom, Brad & Alice, along with Debby McClatchy, are likely to sell out shows whereever they play their fine brand of old time music.

There were musical fireworks when Beppe Gambetta & Dan Crary came down. Some of the best guitar picking imaginable. Along with Jack & Steve, these players are the worlds best. Sensitive & dynamic, people were still talking about the concert months afterwards. Quite right, too.

Peter Rowan The Wiyos 2005
Peter Rowan 2002 The Wiyos 2005

In the Spring of 2002 Peter Rowan visited St.Ives, and sold out The Western Hotel. A memorable concert that had the audience crying for more. One of the legendary & seminal figures in Americana music, he was on top form that night.

On their first visit to the UK, Michael, Parrish & Joseph, The Wiyos, played one of the very best Acoustic Club concerts at The Western Hotel. At the end of their show they received a spontaneous standing ovation, rarely seen down in these parts. A great mixture of musicianship & theatrical performance. Let's hope they return again soon.

Clive Gregson Debbie McClatchy
Clive Gregson 2004 Debby McClatchy 2002/3/4

One of the finest songwriters & guitarists that England has produced for a long time.
Clive Gregson arrived here from Nashville TN to remind us what home grown talent really is.
Much loved since his early days with 'Any Trouble', Clive showed us that lyrically & musically he remains in the highest league. Also goes to show that The Acoustic Club is willing to expand it's boundaries to include great music from other genres.

Another much loved Acoustic Club favourite. Debby McClatchy has proved to be a musician who can fill any venue in St.Ives. Much more than just an Old Time player, her range of material is second to none. The combination of her great vocals plus fine banjo playing is irresistable.
But then, we expect you already know that.
